The Care and Keeping of Jewelry and other Handmade Goods
Here is a quick guide to how to give your handmade jewelry its best life - feel free to email me if you have any questions!
FOR POLYMER CLAY JEWELRY
- Keep out of direct sunlight when not being worn as this can cause discoloration
- Avoid getting jewelry wet - this includes not wearing pieces when swimming, in the shower, etc. This can tarnish the metals on the pieces or cause other unwanted changes.
- Painted on details often have a topcoat to keep the paint in place but please do not rub or scratch at the jewelry as this can destroy the paint. Alcohol and/or water are enough to ruin paint in some instances, which means avoiding getting pieces wet is that much more important.
- Do not use harsh chemicals on jewelry, such as acetone.
- Though polymer is both flexible and durable, please do not bend your jewelry or be rough with details on the pieces.
- HANDLE WITH CARE! These pieces are handmade and are not meant to be thrown in a purse, dropped on the ground or otherwise treated roughly. This may cause pieces to break.
FOR ACRYLIC JEWELRY
- Keep out of direct sunlight when not being worn as this can cause discoloration
- Avoid getting jewelry wet - this includes not wearing pieces when swimming, in the shower, etc. This can tarnish the metals on the pieces or cause other unwanted changes.
- For any dust or fingerprints that may accumulate, a microfiber cloth can be gently rubbed over the surface to remove. Using any cloth that is not very soft can scratch the surface of the acrylic, including paper towels!
